One thing that I have learned over this past year is how to let go and it is not because of the hype over the animated movie, “Frozen”. Letting Go is letting God.
When you are disappointed in any way, it is important to let the disappointment go, not look behind you and to move forward. Some people believe that this can be done without the power of God, but in fact that is false. It is a false sense of letting go and can be very misleading. You can let a person or a situation go, but without God helping you though it, it will only be temporary and that leads to a deeper bitterness, rage and anger. The Bible says we are to let things go and give them to God with a full surrendering of us trying to control the situation.
Ephesians 4:31 says, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” Notice that this verse says, “all” not “some” or what you chose to put away. It says, “all”.
Your heart can become calloused and infected by choosing not to let go of a hurt or pain inflicted by someone. You can’t control what someone else does, but you can chose what you do and how you act.
It can be real tough letting go of a situation or person that has broken you or left you feeling betrayed. Why would God allow someone to feel this way or to be broken? You may never know why, but instead of asking God “why”, ask Him how you can learn from it and what is it that you need to do to change? Sometimes, God wants us to let things or people go so that He can do His work in us and even, in them too. If we don’t let it go, we may end up slowing down the purpose or being an obstacle with what He is trying to do. God’s purpose is much greater than anything we can understand and it is good for us to walk away knowing this and full of faith trusting Him.
The Bible tells us to trust God and lay our heavy and burdened hearts at the foot of the cross giving it to Him. He will make our load light and easier to carry, but we have to be willing to give it and let it go.
Matthew 11:28-30 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Let go and let God….let Him have your worry, pain, uncertainty, brokenness, shame, guilt, trials and many other things. God can use our heartbreak for His glory and to make us better, not bitter. We can chose to learn and grow from any situation no matter how painful it may be.
Let it go…….
Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Praising You, Jesus! Thank you Jesus…in your precious name, Amen!
