Summer is almost over and fall is right around the corner.  It just amazes me how time flies with the change of seasons and of course, the older I get. The last few months have been especially challenging for me and my husband.  We have gone through all kinds of trials and painful circumstances that are really creating all kinds of feelings to surface.
I have to tell you all that some of the most painful trials have occurred and have found myself asking the simple question, “Why?”  When we as believers, go through these trials in our life we have to remember one very blunt verse;

[quotes] “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”- James 1:2-4 NLT[/quotes]

Could that verse be any more clear?  When we get stagnant in our walk and faith in the Lord, God wants to grow us and teach us more things that will glorify Him.  We need to look at those trials as an opportunity to be joyful.  We are God’s tool and He wants what is best for Him and He is not going to fail us or confuse us.  The enemy wants us to think and feel that way. Faith isn’t based on the way we feel or on our emotion.  Faith is NOT about emotion and the only way to be able to keep that in check, is to be in tune to Jesus.  Read your bible daily, get involved in a small group bible study, fellowship with other believers, serve and help others in your community and lots and lots of prayer.  God wants you to spend quality time with Him, just you and Him. Also, it’s important to remember that the devil wants nothing more than to see you react to a trial and fall hard on your face.  Overcome with emotion and a feeling of pure devastation;

[quotes] “Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.” – Ephesians 6:11-13 NLT [/quotes]

Satan wants to destroy you and will even use others to try and accomplish that.  The devil is the king of lies and just may accuse you of being a liar to others just to try and pull you away from God.  Here’s the thing with that though, even though Satan uses his tricks, God allows it.  God allows it to once again…grow you.  It’s important to remember, a believer is protected and anything that God allows, is done for His glory.  You are a witness for Jesus Christ and He wants you to have the armor, wisdom, power and heart to lead others to Him.  You can’t do it in your strength, but with the Holy Spirit, you can.

“The Lord himself will fight for you.  Just stay calm.”Exodus 14:14 NLT

God loves you…how much do you love Him?  If you are on “fire for Christ”, expect the enemy use any means possible to attack you to put that fire out!  He will most assuredly use your family, employers, co-workers, children and complete strangers to knock you off that foundation of Christ. Resist the devil by using the word of God and quote verses!
He will also use the world and things of this world and temptation to bring you down.  Resist the world by loving God more than anything!

He will also use your own flesh and it’s desires to tempt you away ever so slowly from God. Resist the flesh by simply fleeing from it!

The next time you find yourself in a trial, don’t react to the situation, but be still and lean on God.  Pray, pray, and pray more.  Spend time on your knees in the middle of your living room floor talking to God telling him your feelings even though he already knows them.  Open your bible and read.

God doesn’t allow trials to hurt us or punish us, but to grow us.  He has something great in store for you because He loves you!  Trust Him and believe.  You can only see in the current and the past, but The Lord knows you before you were ever born.  He knows your future and died for each and every person on the face of this great big earth.
