Important Update:
Restored Wings' Commitment Amid Leadership Transition

RW Friends & Supporters,

The staff and Board of Directors at Restored Wings (RW) are incredibly grateful for our giving partners. Your generous support allows RW to provide a healing path for women and girls who have suffered the abuse and horrors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Recently, the Board made the difficult but necessary decision to change the leadership at RW. Making a change of this magnitude requires a great deal of thought, prayer, and certainty about why a change has become critical. The mission of this organization must be to provide an effective recovery and restoration program for the residents who come to RW for help. To accomplish that mission, the Board must be faithful to the fiduciary responsibilities with which we are entrusted. Our responsibility includes ensuring that the focus of RW is solely on the residents, therapy, and programs which allow them to heal and thrive. We must also ensure that the financial resources given to RW are used appropriately, and that our dedicated staff and volunteers are respected and properly supported.

After a thorough process of evaluation and careful consideration of the future of RW, the Board’s decision to part with Julie Shrader was unanimous. Since the announcement, we have received requests for more information about Julie’s transition. Because of our deep respect for Julie, the Board has chosen not to publicly discuss the reasons why this change was necessary. The Board is confident that its decision was in the best interests of the residents, staff, and giving partners at RW. This was a difficult decision for all involved.  We sincerely thank Julie for her efforts, achievements, and dedication.

Many of our giving partners received a message from Julie that may have given the impression that RW will no longer provide a program for trafficked girls. To be clear, RW recently purchased a home for underaged girls, and, with great anticipation and excitement, we will be opening the home to provide services in the near future.

It is important to emphasize that the mission of RW is greater than any one person. We remain dedicated to continuing our collaboration with local and national organizations to serve and support vulnerable women and girls within the RW program.

RW has experienced leadership and staff in place with extensive experience in providing residential programming to women and girls in trauma.  There has been no disruption to the services being provided.  Change often creates opportunities and the staff is already implementing significant improvements to the effectiveness of the services we provide to our residents.

The women’s home is at capacity and is functioning better with each passing day. We need the continued generous support of our giving partners to provide the therapy and support our residents desperately need. We must also continue to make progress towards opening the girls’ home as soon as possible.

We appreciate each one of you, and we look forward to continuing our mission to help the women and girls who enter the RW program.

The Board of Directors is ready to engage with giving partners seeking more information about the organization’s direction. Please email your request to restoredwingsboard@outlook.com. We will diligently respond to each request as quickly as possible.

Blessings,
The Restored Wings Board of Directors and Staff
